International Firefighter Safety Stand Down
Starting June 21, and continuing until all shifts and duty nights have been covered, fire departments are urged to suspend all non-emergency activity and focus on firefighter safety. This year, the IAFC will dedicate their annual Safety Stand Down to emergency vehicle safety.

In conjunction with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), The National Volunteer Fire Council, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and VFIS. TargetSafety is providing two emergency vehicle safety training courses at No Cost for the duration of this year’s Safety Stand Down.

Every year, an intolerable number of emergency responders are killed or injured in accidents involving motor vehicles. We encourage all fire personnel to participate in this essential fire fighter training.

"Emergency service injuries and fatalities associated with intersection accidents are tragic. Compounding this tragedy are the injuries, deaths, and accompanying litigation that can occur when civilians are involved. Yet with proper driver training, public education programs and emergency vehicle response guidelines, many of these accidents can be avoided." - David F. Wyrwas, CLU, ChFC, CIC - President VFIS
