Workplace Statistics

A telephone poll found that, of the 1112 workers polled,:

  • 9% of male workers claimed to have been harassed at work.

  • 29% of female workers claimed to have been harassed at work.

  • 60% of targets took no action.

Analysis of the harassment incident:

  • 45% were harassed by a supervisor.

  • 25% were harassed by an employee senior to them.

  • 15% were harassed by a coworker at their level.

  • 12% were harassed by a junior employee.

Analysis of harasser:

  • 100% of the women's harassers were a man.

  • 59% of the men's harassers were a woman.

  • 41% of men's harassers were another man.

School Statistics

(From a survey: 1,990 polled in grades 8 through 12):

  • 85% of the girls have been harassed.

  • 35% of the boys have been harassed.

  • 35% of girls harassed by school employees.

  • 15% of boys harassed by school employees.

An analysis of the data showed that African-American girls are three times more likely to be harassed than white or Latino girls.
