MEETING WITH AN ALLEGED VICTIM
Emphasize to the alleged victim that your position is
not one of doubt, belief or judgement. The initial stage of the complaint
is not the proper time to form opinions.
- An employee that has been harassed may display any of the following
emotions:

- Often the alleged victim feels intimidated, traumatized and overwhelmed by the incident.
- The alleged victim may be unable to openly discuss the
situation.
- If they are vague, ask clarifying questions.
- Suggest that they describe the most recent behavior. Try
to draw them out.
- They may be seeking consolation and/or justification for not
accepting the behavior in question.
- The alleged victim may request a course of action to personally
remedy the situation.
- There may be a need to "vent" frustrations.
